While David waited for the legal resolution between Burrito House franchise and his friend and contract employer Bud Westwood,  he felt like becoming unemployed again.  Even though a more glorified term for such unemployment is "self-employment".  The term would have not mattered much to him anymore.  In between small projects and working-hard/hardly-working, he attended numerous seminars organized by local small business owners for small business owners.  These events were often organized by polished speakers teaching other business people on the subjects of how to become polished speakers.  It was hard to tell how successful those speakers really were, because all of them surely dressed successfully and spoke successfully, as if "success" was their first and last name.   
  
Some of the memorable events in learning to become a successful small business owner included those networking events hosted by local chamber of commerce for its members or would-be members.  In his life, David had always been branded as an introvert most of the time for not being very good at making friends.  But in those networking events, he was surprised at how many people came onto him, as if he was such a friend magnet.  They hand him many business cards and wanted him to become their friends too.  Thinking the world of business opportunities were rushing toward him, he was surprisingly delighted by his ability to attract friends and overcoming his problem of shyness.  It seemed his list of business contacts was exploding even though he had merely been standing still in a corner during those business networking events. 
  
After a few days, the growing list of business contacts did not introduce too many opportunities to him.  After a few more sobering moments in those business networking events, he realized that he was back to square one again and none of his newly met contacts could land him any significant work, because majority of them, like himself, were looking for other business contacts to pity, donate, invest, help or pay.  
  
It was said during those networking events that business coaching was one of the hottest business for entrepreneurs to get in, probably because too many novice business owners did not have a clue as to how to bring their businesses to prosperity.  An eloquent businessman or woman could make a killing by giving speeches to others craving for knowledge on incorporating, financing, marketing, operating, selling, pretty much every stage of their businesses.  In those lectures, coaches could be coaching their students on various topics, as long as those subjects worth elaboration.  There could always be reasons for people to talk on any subject and there would always be people listening to those talks.   
  
One speaker told his audiences that they should adopt this marketing strategy called "guerrilla marketing", which by its name implied the strategy of marketing anywhere whenever one gets an opportunity.  For instance, the teacher of guerrilla marketing told his students to always prepare at least a dozen business cards and hand them out whenever possible, even when standing in a grocery store check-out line or standing in Starbucks waiting for a cup of coffee.  "Don't forget to handout your business card!  Don't underestimate the effect of handing out business cards.  You never know who could be standing next to you", then the speaker gave out about half a dozen of examples regarding how people miraculously met their investors or financial saviors by the strategy of guerrilla marketing.  The teacher also asked his students to practice a sort of cow boy fast draw moves when reaching into the pockets for business cards.
