"What did I say" Wise Guy asked while thinking hard. "I said a lot of things to you, I don't know which statement you are talking about". "You said that Chinese democracy was progressing well. Although officials were becoming more and more corrupted and got richer, ordinary peasants and workers were figuring out how to cheat the systems whenever possible. You also said moral decay was a sign of social progress, do you remember?" David asked. "Oh, that. I remember now." Wise Guy replied. David continued: "You also said that although China did not have multiple parties to officially criticize and monitor the Communist Party, but parties in America and other Western countries almost always serve as 'opposition parties' that straighten out the mistakes of Chinese Communist parties one way or another, slowly or quickly, depending on what the issue was". "Oh, yeah". Wise Guy laughed. "I used to think that China or the other less developed countries are more corrupted ones than US, until I recently read about what kind of merchandises were sold by governmental officials in this country. That is the selling of a war itself. A war could be sold to mercenaries and the practice of selling contracts soly to General or President Grant's relatives started since 19th century. One only need to Google terms such as: Halliburton, Brown and Root, Kellogg to find out how good the war business and patriotism market really is." David said. "What is your point?" Wise Guy asked cutting his friend short. "Well, Hear me out." David enumerated: "Think about what I said earlier and think about these words: 'history is a set of lies agreed upon', 'imagination rules the world', 'life is but an illusion, dream, game, mirage' do they all sounds like music or movies in your ears or in front of your eyes? I mean democracy, freedom and all that portrayed to be wonderful stuff are all illusions."
